The First Brighton Marathon (2010)

It was the first ever Brighton Marathon at the weekend, a special day for Brighton, well organised and blessed with some awesome sunshine.

Unlike the London one it was nice to be able to cycle around much of the course, cheering mates/mrs on whilst taking some snaps. Photos from the day are below.

Snowboarding in Mayrhofen 2010

I went snowboarding in Mayrhofen (Austria) last week. I wanted to go back to Austria after doing a season in St Anton before uni, which was just an amazing 6 months.

I’d probably have to say that I had one of the best ski holidays that i’ve ever been on. We booked with Crystal Ski, the snow was great, resort had great nightlife, a huge ski area, friendly people and amazing value for money. What more can you ask for!

We were also lucky enough that our trip conincided with Oakley’s Job Vid competition.

Two videos; one of the most ridiculous half pipe that Red Bull made for Shaun White and another showing his new trick that he pulled out at the Olymipcs. He had already won at the Olympics so had nothing to lose, he decides to pop a Tomahawk in there for laughs, that’s a Double McTwist 1260.

These are some of the best snowboard (from snowboardaddiction.com) ‘how to’ videos that i’ve seen. I learnt these with the help of this video on my season, although this winter i’ll be nailing some bigger ones!

Brand Haskell

Like him or not James Haskell (England and Stade Francais) is certainly switched on when it comes to promoting his own brand online.

He’s active in a variety of channels online and really seems to get it. I follow his Twitter feed, which can be a little boring but have to take my hat off to the fact that at least he’s aware of and actually gets it. In fact i’d go so far as to say that even the RFU could take some tips from him on how to engage with your audience online and impove their currently very dry un-engaging site. All Blacks.com is the ulimate lesson for a rugby organisation looking to do this.

Found this whilst studying for my IDM course, interesting in that it can be meaningful in so many different areas of my life…in particular in through marketing tactics as well as closed skills for rugby (place kicking) and tricks for snowboarding etc. Probably just as well, given the amount of time I spend watching snowboarding and rugby videos!

The same part of a person’s brain is activated when watching somebody doing something as when they carry out the action themselves.
